There have been several announcements from publishers recently about changes in their eBook lending policies to libraries. Penguin Group is the latest to make such an announcement. Below is an excerpt from Overdrive's email to its library partners. (Overdrive is the primary supplier of eBooks to public libraries, including libraries in the SAILS Library Network).
"Starting today (February 10, 2012), Penguin will no longer offer additional copies of eBooks and download audiobooks for library purchase. Additionally, Penguin eBooks loaned for reading on Kindle devices will need to be downloaded to a computer then transferred to the device over USB. For library patrons, this means Penguin eBooks will no longer be available for over-the-air delivery to Kindle devices or to Kindle apps.
Overdrive is continuing to talk to Penguin about their future plans for eBook and digital audiobook availability for library lending."

Tobin Road Race
We had a magnificent day and a big turnout for this third annual event.
You see here the first part of the adult crowd at the start ; there were too many to get in one photo!
There was a good turn out for the children's races, too; and there was much fun to be had with a balloon man, crafts, and food.
Again we thank the Tobin Family for all the hard work they put in to making this a memorable and successful occasion, and for the resulting enhancement of the Children's collection at the library.
